kernknot Back to the audit

Privacy notice

What we collect when you fill in a workflow audit, why we have it, how long we keep it, and how to make us delete it.

Who we are

Kernknot is the data controller for the information described here. Kernknot Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales, number 17438369, registered office 62 Shortridge Terrace, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE2 2JH.

Any question about this notice, or any request about your information, goes to hello@kernknot.com.

What we collect

Only what you type into the audit form. There is nothing else on this site that gathers information about you.

WhatWhy we need it
Your name, email address, company and job title To write the audit, address it to you, and send it back
What you tell us about your process — the steps, the tools, where it breaks, how long it takes, what it costs This is the audit. Without it there is nothing to analyse
Your answers about timing and budget To tell you honestly whether the work is worth doing

We do not ask for anything special-category — no health, ethnicity, political or similar information — and you should not include any in your answers.

What this site does not do

No cookies. No analytics. No advertising or tracking pixels. Nothing is stored in your browser, and we do not know you visited unless you submit the form.

Why we are allowed to hold it

Two lawful bases under UK GDPR:

What happens to it

When you submit the form, two emails are sent. One to us containing your answers, and one to you containing your own figures and what happens next.

We read it, write the audit, and reply. That is the whole process. Nobody outside Kernknot sees your answers.

Who processes it on our behalf

ServiceWhat it does
CloudflareHosts this site and passes the form submission on
ResendDelivers the two emails
Google WorkspaceOur email inbox, where your audit arrives and is kept

Where we host a tool for a client, the data in it is stored in Western Europe.

Email is different, and we would rather say so than let you assume otherwise. The two emails sent when you submit the audit, and the mailbox they arrive in, pass through providers that may be located outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Where information is transferred abroad it is protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as an international data transfer agreement or an approved adequacy arrangement.

If you have a requirement that your information stays inside the UK or the EEA, tell us before you fill in the form and we will tell you honestly whether we can meet it.

We never sell your information, and we do not add you to a mailing list. The consent box says "nothing else, and no list", and we mean it.

How long we keep it

SituationHow long
You submit an audit and we don't end up working together 12 months, then deleted
You ask us to delete it sooner Within 30 days, and usually the same week
We work together For the engagement, then 6 years — the period we must keep business records for tax purposes

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:

Email hello@kernknot.com and we will act within one month. There is no charge and you do not need a reason.

If you are unhappy

Tell us first — hello@kernknot.com — and we will try to put it right.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. You can do that whether or not you speak to us.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant and we still hold your details, we will email you.
